Advocating for Community Cats. Helping neighborhoods they live in in
Bowling Green/Wood County, Ohio
About Us
For The Love of Cats was founded after realizing the extent of the homeless cat crisis, not just in our neighborhood, but in our town, surrounding communities and all over the world.
We live near campus in a small college town in NW Ohio called Bowling Green. We have cats of our own and early one fall several years ago, three cute, mostly feral ginger cats started coming around. At that time, we didn’t know much about TNR and community cats. However, that spring we had six more cats coming around and later that summer, six more. We quickly started to educate ourselves about feral cats and how to care for them as well as control their population.
I always say thing happen for a reason, and one day when dropping off a stray cat for TNR, we met another group in town that was very involved doing the same in their neighborhood. We began working together that year and after many discussions with members of their group, we realized that something needed to be done to create a balance between feral/stray/homeless “community” cats and the neighborhoods they live in. The situation had become alarming, especially after Covid, and too many feral cats is not only a nuisance issue, but a quality-of-life issue.
Hence, For the Love of Cats was formed to advocate for Community Cats for the humane treatment in controlling their population through TNR and educating the public about Trap-Neuter-Return and why it’s the most effective method.
For the Love of Cats works to reduce the overpopulation of free-roaming cats, and is dedicated to improving and protecting the lives community cats through TNR and public education.
Who We Are
Our mission is to humanely reduce the number of feral/free-roaming cats through TNR (Trap, Neute, Return) programs in neighborhoods they live in. Our goals are to improve their lives by managing their populations, reducing the spread of diseases among colonies, and creating a balance between the cats and the community.
Our vision is that all community cats’ lives are valued and they are treated with compassion. We envision a future with reduced population growth, where community cats are being controlled through TNR, and that remaining colony cats are protected and cared for throughout the remainder of their lives.
Our Mission and Vision
We’re a grassroots organization and rely on volunteers, friends, family and local veterinary professionals to help us with our mission and achieve our goals. You can help by volunteering or by making a donation for TNR services.
